Starting from 7th August 2025, The Australian Department of Home Affairs has introduced new English language score requirements across a range of English tests including PTE Academic, IELTS Academic, TOEFL iBT, and six more tests (Refer Table 2).

These changes in the specification of English requirements apply to Australian Visas that require English language proficiency, including:

•     Skilled Visas (e.g. 189, 190, 491)
•     Employer Sponsored Visas (e.g. 186, 482, 494)
•     Temporary Graduate Visa (485)
•     Student Visa (500) and other visas.

This update significantly affects candidates applying for Australian visa. The following table summarises all updated score with equivalency.

Note: The ​English language test requirements for the Skills in Demand Visa (Subclass 482)​ will not change until 13 September 2025.
