PTE

PTE stands for Pearson Test of English. PTE test is a computer-based English language proficiency test that assesses non-native speakers of the English language to check if they fit in for studying, working, or migrating to countries where English is spoken widely. The test is delivered through the Pearson Virtual User Environment (VUE) centers.

Exam Pattern

The PTE Academic or Pearson Test of English has 3 parts:

Speaking & Writing:

Time : 54 – 67 minutes

In this portion of the test, the test items are of the following types:

  1. Personal introduction
  2. Read out aloud
  3. Repeat sentences
  4. Describe images
  5. Re-tell lecture
  6. Answer short question
  7. Summarize written text
  8. Write essays

Reading:

Time : 29 – 30 minutes

In this portion of the test, the test items are of the following types:

  1. Multiple-choice, choose single answer
  2. Multiple-choice, choose multiple answers
  3. Re-order paragraph
  4. Reading: Fill in the blanks
  5. Reading and writing : Fill in the blanks

Listening:

Time : 30 – 43 minutes

In this portion of the test, the test items are of the following types:

  1. Summarize spoken text
  2. Multiple-choice, choose multiple answers
  3. Fill in the blanks
  4. Highlight correct summary
  5. Multiple-choice, choose single answer
  6. Select missing word
  7. Highlight incorrect words
  8. Write from dictation

Grading system of the PTE

PTE exam is taken on computers. PTE marking is distinguished even to the reference in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages(CEFR). As per the Global Scale of English, test scores are reported on a numerical scale from 10 to 90.

PTE exam fee in Nepal

The PTE exam fee is 180 USD + 15% USD Tax + Bank Charge. This cost applies to both PTE Academic and PTE Academic UKVI.

PTE can be rescheduled

The best part about PTE is that it is flexible in terms of time and location. Rescheduling your PTE test is an option.

  • Rescheduling 14 days or more before the test date: No additional cost will be charged

  • Rescheduling 8-13 days before the test date: 50% of the rescheduled test fee will be charged

  • Rescheduling 7 days or fewer before the test date: Full cost will be charged for the new test
